Mr John Shipp BA Dip Ed Macq BA W'gong DipArchiveAdmin UNSW, FALIA John has been University Librarian since August 1997, and from 1986 to 1997 was University Librarian at the University of Wollongong. He has had a long involvement in national campaigns to improve access to scholarly information by the Australian university community. John is currently project director to the Australian Research Information Infrastructure Committee, and has previously served as president of the Australian Library and Information Association and of the Council of Australian University Librarians. As University Librarian, John is responsible for the overall leadership in the management of the Library especially its strategic development.

Ms Libby O'Reilly BA Macq GradDipLibSc KCAE Prior to this appointment Libby's career has included information services and business manager positions at UTS, University of Western Sydney and the State Library of New South Wales. Libby is an advocate of the library working collaboratively with their academic and student community to support their learning, teaching and research aspirations. She is interested in demystifying the world of libraries and information retrieval and in the creation of library spaces as vibrant learning environments. She is advocate of evidence based librarianship and believes that good management decisions should be based on good evidence. As Director, Health, Medical, and Social Sciences Libraries, Libby provides leadership for the staff whom provide library services to the Faculties of Dentistry, Health Sciences, Medicine, Nursing and Midwifery, Pharmacy, and Law. These services include Burkitt-Ford, Dentistry, Health Sciences, Medical, Nursing and Law Libraries.

Ms Karen Johnson BA LaTrobe BCom Melb GradDipLib RMIT
Karen was previously Associate Director (Resources and Access) at RMIT Library. Karen's role is to coordinate the services which keep the libraries operational. She has general oversight of the Library's information technology services as well as the units which acquire and catalogue information resources.

Ms Su Hanfling BA Cant DipLib Well Su came to Australia from New Zealand in 1990, and was Service Operations Librarian at the State Library of New South Wales before joining the University of Sydney in 1997. Her focus areas include the development of client-friendly services and learning spaces; innovation and technology; knowledge management; online learning; digital resource use, creation and sustainability; preservation of research data; and the development of information literacy to support lifelong learning. Su has been active as a consultant to professional groups affiliated with the University and has advised on several project teams developing digital services including the Sustainable Objects for Research and Teaching group; Online Library of Images for Veterinary Education and Research (OLIVER), the Veterinary Education and Information Network (VEIN), eBot - a repository of botanical objects, eFlora - an online version of the Flora of the Sydney Region and the digitisation of the works of the applied botanist Joseph Henry Maiden. Su is a member of the Learning and Teaching Committee of the Academic Board and several eLearning Committees. Su directs Library services to the College of Sciences, Technology and Humanities and is responsible for the Architecture, Badham, Camden, Engineering, Fisher, Madsen, Mathematics and Sydney College of the Arts Libraries. She is closely involved with the development of the new SciTech Library, due for completion in 2008.

Mr Ross Coleman BA (Hons) Macq LibCert Ross joined the University of Sydney Library in 1991 and has held the positions of Collection Management Librarian, Collections Coordinator, and Manager of Innovation and Development. Prior to Sydney he worked at Deakin University Library as Acquisitions Librarian. Ross has extensive experience in the creation and management of digital library collections, cross-institutional collaboration and initiating externally funded projects. He is active in fostering the growth of digital library and data repositories and developing new modes of scholarly publishing. As Director of Sydney eScholarship, Ross is responsible for the development and management of a suite of innovative services for the University of Sydney that integrates the curation and management of digital content with new forms of access and scholarly publication including Sydney University Press.
