Serial Review - Subscribing to new serial titles
While the Library is able to maintain existing subscriptions to serial titles, we do not have the funds for additional subscriptions to new titles.
New subscriptions will only be ordered after a cancellation of a title/s of equivalent value, or a transfer of funds from a departmental monographs allocation. In all cases arrangements for any new title must be made through the designated library liaison contact for the department or school.
To assist with any review of current subscriptions lists of journals attributed to any department can be produced on request. To request a list please contact the relevant subject librarian.
As part of its strategic goal of improving and extending access to journal literature the Library has negotiated electronic networked access to the journal collections of several major publishers including Elsevier Science, Academic Press, Wiley, Blackwells, Kluwer, Nature, as well as many institutional or society publishers, such as Project Muse (American University Press journals), IEEE, Institute of Physics, American Chemical Society. These electronic only subscriptions reflect the Library's policy of preference for electronic over print.
To ensure the benefits of access to the full collections of these publishers' journals the Library has been able to contract licenced at significantly reduced prices. This arrangement often means however the Library is contracted to maintain subscriptions to all titles in these collections - individual titles that form part of these collections cannot be cancelled as part of any departmental or faculty review.
