How to save catalogue records
Catalogue records can be exported and saved.
Step 1 Choose records
When you have a catalogue record displayed, there is an Export button displayed.
Click the Export button.
Two extra buttons display once you have marked records for Export.
You can continue to browse the catalogue and click the Export button for each record you want to keep.
Step 2 Choose export method
When you have finished choosing the records to Export, click the Export Saved List button.
You can save the exported records as a text file, or email them.
Step 3 Saving export file
You have 3 steps for saving export files.
1. Choose which records you want to keep.
This section is at the bottom of the page but should be filled in first.
Check the list of exported records, and remove the items you do not want to keep.
To remove, click the checkbox beside the title and click the Remove Marked Records from this List button.
2. Choose the format of the information.
The default format is full display, which gives you all of the information in the catalogue record.
You can choose a different format by clicking on the radio button beside the other options.
3. Choose email or file save
Exported catalogue records can be emailed by filling in the email address box on the screen, and clicking submit.
To save, click the radio button next to Local Disk in the Send List to box, and click Submit.
You will get a pop-up box telling you that you are downloading a file called export.txt from opac.library.usyd.edu.au
You are given the options Open, Save, Cancel, More info.
Choose Open (not Save)
Notepad will open with your records displayed.
Use the Notepad File menu to save the file.
Downloading
To move the file from the Library computer to your floppy or removeable drive, follow the downloading instructions.
