Library membership and borrowing information
University of Sydney alumni are eligible, for a small annual fee, to borrow from the University of Sydney Library.
Your Library card entitles you to:
- Borrow from any University of Sydney Library.
- Borrow items for 8 weeks from most collections.
- Borrow as many items as you need. There is no limit on the number of concurrent loans.
- Renew your loans, provided the item has not been recalled from loan.
You are blocked from borrowing when your fines reach $25.00. You can keep track of your loans, and pay fines via MyLibrary.
To obtain a borrower's card you will need to:
- Provide proof of graduation i.e. academic transcript or graduation papers.
- Provide suitable identification, such as a driver's licence.
- Pay a fee of $80 (GST inclusive) for 12 months membership.
- Fill out and submit a borrower card application form.
How to apply for a borrower's card
- Print the application form.
- Attach a passport sized photograph (or an electronic image file if sending the form electronically). Please note: providing a photograph is not necessary if applying in person.
- Sign and submit the application to the Library:
- Payment of a membership fee will be required before a borrower's card can be created for you. Cheque or money order payments can be made by mail to: The Accountant, The University of Sydney, NSW 2006. Attach copies of identification and proof of graduation to application.
In person: At the Fisher, Law, or the Health Sciences Libraries. A card can be made for you on the spot.
By mail: Address applications to the Loan Enquiries Office, Fisher Library, University of Sydney NSW 2006.
Electronically: By email to loanenq@library.usyd.edu.au. Note: The electronic image and signature must be clear and legible.
