Where is Reserve?
Print materials held in Reserve are shelved as a separate collection within each University of Sydney Library.
How to access Reserve?
All Reserve items appear in the catalogue with ‘Reserve’ as the location (e.g. Fisher Reserve).
It is possible to view all items placed in Reserve for a particular course by clicking on the Reserve link from the library homepage or the Find Reserve Items menu from the catalogue. You can search by the unit of study code, title of the item or lecturer’s name.
You can even search directly from the library home page by choosing Reserve from the drop down menu in the search box and typing in your Unit of Study code. Electronic articles will appear as a link in the reserve list. You can access the article by clicking on the title and following the prompts.
Booking Reserve Items
Some libraries may allow bookings of Reserve items so that they are available at a particular time. Please speak to the reserve section of the library in which the item is held to see if this can be arranged.
Reserve Loan Periods
Two items may be borrowed at a time, for up to two hours. Reserve staff can renew items if they are not overdue or booked by someone else.
Reserve items MUST be returned to the library from which you borrowed them.
Overnight Loans
Reserve items borrowed within two hours of the library closing can be borrowed overnight , but must be returned the next day within the first hour of the library opening .
Fines
Overdue fines for Reserve items are $2.50 for each hour overdue, or part thereof. As Reserve items can be loaned overnight, Reserve fines continue to accrue during the hours the library is closed, up to a maximum of $30.00.
