Saving Amended Style Files to your PC or Mac

To save an amended Style File to your PC with Netscape:

  1. Right-click on the link and choose Save Link Target As...
  2. The Save As dialog box opens. Change the file type from Text File to All Files in the Save as type picklist.
  3. Add the Style file suffix, .ens to the file name (if it is not already displayed)
  4. Save in EndNote's Styles folder on the C drive. (Double click on the Styles folder to open it)
  5. Click Save

To save an amended Style File to your PC with Internet Explorer:

  1. Click on your style file.
  2. The File download dialog box will appear, click Save
  3. The Save as dialog box will appear
  4. Add the Style file suffix, .ens to the file name (if it is not already displayed)
  5. Save in EndNote's Styles folder on the C drive. (Double click on the Styles folder to open it)
  6. Click Save

To save an amended Style file to your Mac:

Currently there are no Mac versions of amended style files available on this site. Clients should use the University of Maastrich EndNote conversion utility http://mac.unimaas.nl/EndNote.html to convert any PC Filter, Style and Connect files they download to a Mac-compatible format. See FAQ > To convert a PC filter, style or connection to a Mac format Once this has been done:

  1. Open your hard drive and drag and drop the file into the EndNote Styles folder
  2. Open EndNote, go to File,select Output Styles.
  3. Open Style Manager. Scroll down to the name of the Style file you have just downloaded and click next to it in the favourites column. This is necessary to activate the file for the first time.
  4. Define this style as a favourite, if this is a style you will use often.

Defining favourite styles

Mark any style files that you regularly use as favourites. To do this:

  1. Open your EndNote library
  2. Go to Edit menu, select Output styles
  3. Choose open Style manager
  4. Find the style you want.
  5. Click in the box by the Style name
  6. Close the Style manager

You only need to do this once. When you next open your EndNote library your style will be listed in the Drop-down menu which appears when you go to the Edit menu and and select Output styles
