EEBO: Early English Books Online
Records can be downloaded from the EEBO database in a format that can be
imported into EndNote.
NOTE: The results are not perfect. You will need to edit the references in
your EndNote Library.
Filter: No special filter is required. February 2006

- Perform your search and mark the required records.
- Click on the Marked list option at the top of the screen.
- When the marked records are displayed, click on the Download Records option at the
top of the screen.
- When the new screen appears:
For the Select Citation Format option, select EndNote.
- Then click on the Download button.
- When records are displayed, use your browser's Save As function to save the
records as a Text File (*.txt).
- Open Endnote
- File>Open
- Choose a reference library in the Select a Reference Library window.
- Click Open.
- File > Import
- At Import Data File click Choose File and browse to the downloaded text file of references you wish to import.
- At Import Option select the Endnote Import filter. If the filter does not appear on the picklist, click Other Filters...and browse the filter manager until you find it.
- Select the required duplicates option from the Duplicates picklist.
- Click Import.
- The citations from the database should now be in your Endnote library. Check the imported references to ensure that the data has been imported correctly. References from some databases will require manual editing.
