Filter File for Expanded Academic Index via Infotrac

A filter for Expanded Academic Index () is available for download from the University of Queensland Library Endnote filter page. It is recommended that this file be downloaded and used instead of the Infotrac (Gale) filter that comes installed with EndNote X.

Known Problems with this Filter:

  • The database lists only the first page of articles. The total number of pages in the article may appear in the Notes field.

Saving references to import into EndNote:

  • Perform your database search.
  • Select the references you wish to save by checking the box next to each citation.
  • Click Marked Items.
  • Click Download.

  • On the Download screen, select Plain Text with bibliographic tags (Z39.80) format option.

  • Click Download.
  • Save the file to the computer or USB drive in text (.txt) file format.

Importing references into EndNote using a filter file:

  • Open Endnote
  • File>Open
  • Choose a reference library in the Select a Reference Library window.
  Select an Endnote Library  

  • Click Open.
  • File > Import…
  • At Import Data File click Choose File and browse to the downloaded text file of references you wish to import.
  • At Import Option browse to and select the uq_expanded_academic_infotrac filter.
  • select the Appropriate duplicates option: Import All, Discard Duplicates, or Import into Duplicates Library.
  • Click Import.
  • The citations from the database should now be in your Endnote library. Check the imported references to ensure that the data has been imported correctly. Some references may require manual editing.

Direct export of references into EndNote:

Direct export is not recommended for Expanded Academic Index ASAP.
