Saving the references for import into Endnote using a filter:
- Do your Factiva search and select the references you wish to download by checking the box beside each reference.
- From the View As picklist select Full Article/Report plus indexing.

- Click the Save icon, and select Article Format.
- Use your browser's File > Save As function to save the file
- Ensure you save it as a text (.txt) file so that is will import.
Filter file for Factiva:
A filter file for Factiva is available for download from the University of Queensland Endnote site.
"Note: The end result is far from perfect, and records will require some editing after import. Many magazine articles will import with the newspaper article reference type. These can be corrected individually, or in bulk using the Change Text command."
Importing references into EndNote using a filter file:
- Open Endnote
- File>Open
- Choose a reference library in the Select a Reference Library window.

- Click Open.
- File > Import
- At Import Data File click Choose File and browse to the downloaded text file of references you wish to import.
- At Import Option choose the appropriate database filter. If the filter does not appear on the picklist, click Other Filters....

- The Filter Manager opens.

- To select the import filter for your database, click Find.
- Click by Name.. and type Factiva
- Highlight uq_factiva.enf and click Choose
- At the Import dialog box, click Import
- The citations from the database should now be in your Endnote library. Check the imported references to ensure that the data has been imported correctly. References from some databases will require manual editing.
Direct export of references into EndNote:
