Filter File for IIMP International Index to Music Periodicals via Proquest
A Filter file for the IIMP International Index to Music Periodicals via Proquest did not come installed with EndNote X. The following filter file is available fo download from the University of Sydney Endnote site:
Known Problems with this Filter:
- Many older references do not give full bibliographical details. In such cases, all the details relating to the journal will be imported into the Journal field.
- Multiple authors will not import correctly.

Saving references to import into EndNote:
The Library recommends that you save the references to disk and then import the references into EndNote using the correct import filter.
- Perform your IIMP Index to Music Periodicals search.
- Select the references you wish to save by checking the box next to each citation.
- Click Selected Records.
- Select Download in plain text format.

- Name the file and ensure it is saved in .txt format. Close the file.
Importing references from IIMP into EndNote using an import filter
- Open EndNote
- File > Open
- Choose a reference library in the Select a Reference Library window.

- Click Open.
- File > Import
- The Import dialog box opens:
- Click Choose File and browse to the downloaded .txt file of references you wish to import.

- At Import Option browse to and select the USL_International_Index_Music_Periodicals filter. The filter is available here.
- If the correct filter is not displayed in the picklist, click Other Filters...
- The Filter Manager opens.

- Click Find and select Chadwyck-Healey to bring up a list of Chadwyck-Healey databases. Highlight and select USL_International_Index_Music_Periodicals. Click Choose.
- Select Duplicates Option: Import All, Discard Duplicates, or Import into Duplicates Library.
- Click Import.
The citations from the saved text file should now be in your EndNote library. Check the imported references to ensure that the data has been imported correctly. References from some databases may require manual editing.
Direct export of references into EndNote:
Although it can be done, direct export is not recommended for this database, since it will not export the data into EndNote correctly. It is recommended references be downloaded and the the USL_International_Index_Music_Periodicals.enf filter to be used to import the references into EndNote.
