Direct Export | Importing References into EndNote using a filter file

Direct export of references into EndNote:

Direct export is possible with Legaltrac but editing is required.

  • Perform your database search.
  • Select the references you wish to save by checking the box next to each citation.
  • Click Marked Items.
  • Click How to Cite Marked Items.
  • In the Export to third party software field choose Endnote and click Export
  • Click Open
  • Choose your Endnote library
  • The citations from the database should now be in your Endnote library. References will require manual editing.

Edit each reference as follows:

  • Double click on each of the new references to open them for editing
  • Cut the Journal name from the Notes field and paste it in the Journal field
  • You may need to edit the Pages field, either by deleting the number of pages in brackets or substituting a range of pages, for example putting 40-41 instead of 40(2)

Importing references into EndNote using a filter file:

This method is not recommended. The Infotrac (Gale) filter that comes with Endnote does not work well with Legaltrac.
