Direct Export

Direct Export is recommended for all databases on the ISI Web of Knowledge platform. It can only be used when Endnote is installed on the computer that is used to search an online database.

  • Perform your Web of Knowledge CrossSearch
  • Select the references you wish to save by marking the box beneath each citation.
  • Click Submit marks.
  • Click Marked List.
  • On the View/Manage Marked Lists page, click View Marked Records.
  • Step 1. Select the fields to include in the output. Check boxes of the fields you would like to output.
  • Step 2. Select an Option: Click Export to Reference Software.
  • EndNote will open automatically.
  • Select a Reference Library.
  • The references will automatically be inserted into your Library.

Importing references from a search into Endnote using an import filter

  • Perform your Web of Knowledge CrossSearch.
  • Select the references you wish to save by marking the box beneath each citation.
  • Click Submit marks.
  • Click Marked List.
  • On the View/Manage Marked Lists page, click View Marked Records.
  • Step 1. Select the fields to include in the output. Check boxes of the fields you would like to output.
  • Step 2. Select an Option: click Save to File.
  • Save the File to the computer or a USB-drive.
  • Start Endnote.
  • File>Open.
  • Choose a reference library in the Select a Reference Library window.
  • Click Open.
  • File>Import
  • The Import dialog box opens.
  • Click Choose File and browse to the downloaded text file of references you wish to import.
  • Select the ISI-CE filter from the Import Option drop-down menu.
  • Select the Duplicates option (Import All, Discard Duplicates, or Import into Duplicates Folder).
  • Click Import.

The citations from the database should now be in your Endnote library. Check the imported references to ensure that the data has been imported correctly.
