Entering references

Adding a web archive (.mht) file to an EndNote reference

To save a copy of a web page you are viewing, use the Internet Explorer 7 File > Save as command to save the page as a Web Archive, single file (*mht). The saved .mht file can then be added to an EndNote Reference in the Link to PDF field.

  • In Internet Explorer 7 open the web page that is to be saved.
  • File > Save as.
  • Enter a file-name.
  • Save as Type: Web Archive, single file (*.mht).

  • Save
  • Open EndNote.
  • Open the required library.
  • References > New Reference.
  • Change Reference type to Web Page.
  • Enter the details of the reference.
  • References > File Attachments > Attach File....
  • Browse to and select the web archive file.

  • Open.
  • The web-page archive can be viewed by double-clicking on the Internet Explorer Icon in the EndNote reference.

Note: The web archive is a representation of a web page saved at a specfic point in time. Therefore, as time passes links may begin to not work.
