Working with Groups

  • A group is a subset of references in the library.
  • Automatically generated groups are All References, Search Results, and Transferred References
  • Custom groups can be created to help organize the library, eg Chapter 1 for all references referred to in Chapter 1.

Displaying or Hiding Groups

  • The left pane of the Library window lists all of the groups in the current library.
  • Custom groups are listed alphabetically.
  • Highlight a group name to see a list of reference list in that group.
  • Use Show/Hide Groups icon to hide or display groups or use Tools > Hide Groups.

Create a new Group

  • References > Groups > Create new group OR right click in the groups pane > Create New Group
  • Type in the name of your new group
  • Highlight references then References > Add References to > New Group name.

Deleting references

  • To delete a reference from the library completely, highlight All References, highlight the reference, then References > Delete References > Delete
  • To select a range of references use your shift key, your Ctrl key to select individual references
  • To delete a reference from a custom group only, highlight the Group, highlight the reference, then References > Delete References from Group > Delete. The reference stays in the library.
