Overview

In this section you will learn how to obtain EndNote, how to get started by creating an EndNote Library and become familiar with the EndNote Library and Reference windows.

What is EndNote?

• EndNote is a powerful software tool for managing your references.
• It is compatible with a variety of word processing software including Microsoft Word, Word Perfect, AppleWorks (MAC), FrameMaker (MAC), and other some other word processors that can create RTF files.
• The most recent version of EndNote available at University of Sydney is EndNote XI for Windows and Mac. What's new in EndNote X1

With EndNote you can manage your footnotes and bibliographies in a variety of ways. You can:

• manually enter references
• import references into EndNote Libraries using Filter Files, or use a database Direct Export function to download them from databases or catalogues
• using Online Search, you can connect to and search library databases and catalogues (eg, the University of Sydney library catalogue) with Connection Files
• easily create and format bibliographies while writing your research paper or essay
• search the EndNote Libraries you create.
