Getting started

The Library Window:

  • Default display: The first column shows a fig. heading for references that include an attached graphic. The second column displays a paper clip icon for references that include an attached file. The first author, year, title, journal name or secondary title, reference type, and URL are displayed for each reference.
    Edit >Preferences>Display Fields to change the display.
  • Default sort order: References are sorted in order by author. To re-sort the list, click the column headers or References>Sort references.

  • Viewing all references: When new references iare imported into a library, the library window will display the new references only.
    References>Show All References to display all references in a library.
  • Selecting a reference: To quickly select a particular reference, type the first few letters of the item you want to find. eg, if you have sorted your library by author and you need to find an article by Smith, you can just type in "sm". Authors with surnames beginning "sm" will be displayed.
  • Output style display: Tools > Show Preview will display a selected reference in the output style that you have selected.
