course material

Course material is available in both electronic and print formats. Not all courses have material available electronically.


How do I find items in the catalogue?

Your lecturer may link to course readings items directly from WebCT, or tell you to look them up in the Library catalogue:

  • For a list of Course readings, search the online catalogue by Unit of Study, Course Code, or Lecturer Name.
  • Find individual articles with a Title search.

To search by Unit of Study, Course Code, or Lecturer Name:

  • Select Unit of Study or Lecturer Name in the drop-down on the catalogue home page, or use the links in the catalogue's right-hand menu.
  • Enter the course name: eg. Renaissance and Reformation 1498-1648, or enter the course code, eg ARHT 1001
  • The course record will open listing all items attached to that course.
  • Click on the record (i.e. the blue underlined title) you require.
  • The full record for the item displays. Click on the link "Connect to the fulltext"
  • The fulltext of the document will open on the screen in PDF (Adobe page image) format. It can be read on screen or printed with the Acrobat Print button.

OR

  • Click the Lecturer link to search by Lecturer Name.
  • Type the name in this format: Lastname, Firstname.
  • The Lecturer's course(s) will be displayed
  • Click the course you require
  • The Course Materials will be displayed.

To search by article title

  • Select Title from the drop-down on the catalogue home page, or use the Title link in the catalogue's right-hand menu.
  • Enter the title of the article
    • (Note: leave out "The" , "A" or "An" at the beginning of title)
  • The catalogue record of the article will display on the screen
  • Click on the link "Connect to the fulltext"
  • The fulltext of the document will open on the screen in PDF (Adobe page image) format. It can be read on screen or printed with the Acrobat Print button.

Problems accessing the electronic full-text from off-campus?

As eReadings are PDFs,, you may need to download and install the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to view a document. Downloading instructions are available at;
