SciFinder Scholar Terms and Conditions
- SciFinder Scholar may only be used for academic research.
- It may not be used for commercial research, eg, research that is done under a funding or consultant contract where the results are delivered to a for-profit organization.
- See the SciFinder Scholar User Agreement for more information.
Accessing Scifinder Scholar
In the Library
- Look for the SciFinder Scholar desktop icon on PCs in the University Library.

Library Borrower Number authentication is required.
In your office
- SciFinder Scholar 2007 and 2006 software is available to download for all University of Sydney staff and currently enrolled students.
Off-campus
- Scifinder Scholar can only connect to the CAS server from off-campus with either a University Dialup Service account, or the University VPN with the wireless profile.
- Important:Scifinder Scholar cannot connect to the CAS server via the VPN off-campus profile.
- Disconnect from the VPN wireless profile once you are finished, as you will be double charged for downloading data (by Usyd and your ISP).
Training access
Downloading Scifinder Scholar software
- Go to
Library passwords.
- Login with your UniKey
- Locate the login details for Scifinder Scholar.
- Click the SciFinder Scholar User Agreement
- If you accept the Conditions of Use, you will be prompted to enter the Scifinder Scholar login.
- Follow the steps on the Download page.
No UniKey?
Versions
- Scifinder Scholar 2007 is now available for download.
(Rosetta required to run on Mac OS X Leopard)
- On 2 Jan 2008, CAS discontinued access to the following versions of SciFinder Scholar. Upgrade now!
- SciFinder Scholar 2004.2 for Windows and MAC (OS 9 version)
- SciFinder Scholar MAC OS X 1.0 for MAC (OS X version)
