Changes to World News Connection regional searching
17 January 2005 - The Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS), the information provider of World News Connection (WNC) on Dialog, has changed the regional assignments of new content delivered to Dialog.
These regional reassignments will change the way in which you search records on World News Connection. From January 17, any new records added to the database will use the new regional assignments. Records in the database prior to January 17 will reflect the old regional assignments. Please refer to the WNC Regional Assignments document for a full list of regional reassignments.
149 countries and territories have been reassigned to different regional groups. For instance, Iraq, which is in the Near East region for all records prior to January 17, 2005, is reassigned to the Middle East region for all new records added on or after January 17. Additionally, the WNC Insert Date is being removed from all new content records, and the WNC Insert Date field is being removed as a search option.
