Digital Objects Respository Management Forum

The forum is part of a consultative process being undertaken by the Higher Education Information Infrastructure Implementation Steering Committee and seeks to provide an opportunity for:

  • exploring the potential value and role of institutional repositories
  • discussing common issues related to repositories of digital objects acquired or created by universities including:
    • access management
    • e-prints
    • electronic publishing
    • digital theses
    • metadata
    • resource discovery
    • GRID technologies
  • surveying international activities and potential collaboration
  • identifying priorities relating to institutional repositories
  • considering protocols to which funded projects might be required to commit.

DESIRED OUTCOMES

  • wider understanding of trends and projects occurring nationally and internationally
  • identification of a core set of repository-related protocols and requirements
  • discussion of how projects might be supported from Systemic Infrastructure Initiative funding.
