The forum is part of a consultative process being undertaken by the Higher Education Information Infrastructure Implementation Steering Committee and seeks to provide an opportunity for:
- exploring the potential value and role of institutional repositories
- discussing common issues related to repositories of digital objects acquired or created by universities including:
- access management
- e-prints
- electronic publishing
- digital theses
- metadata
- resource discovery
- GRID technologies
- surveying international activities and potential collaboration
- identifying priorities relating to institutional repositories
- considering protocols to which funded projects might be required to commit.
DESIRED OUTCOMES
- wider understanding of trends and projects occurring nationally and internationally
- identification of a core set of repository-related protocols and requirements
- discussion of how projects might be supported from Systemic Infrastructure Initiative funding.
