Teaching in NSW Schools
DRAFT
This page is here to support your transition from teacher training to teaching in a classroom!
From 1st January, 2005, all those seeking to teach in NSW schools, whether public or private, will be required to be accredited with the NSW Institute of Teachers. The NSW Institute of Teachers works under the Framework of Professional Teaching Standards.
There are a number of things to be considered when organising your accreditation. If you are applying to teach in a NSW government school, then you will be accredited by the NSW Department of Education and Training through a nominee of the Director General. If you are seeking to work in a non-government school, then you will need to complete an 'Application for Accreditation' form through the NSW Institute of Teachers.
One of the important elements in applying to teach in a NSW school is to collate a well developed portfolio.
