Allan Bax, (1893 - 1971), was an active member of the Royal Australian Historical Society during the 1950s and 1960s, serving as President from 1963 to 1969.

Among the materials he donated to the University of Sydney are 19th century ships' logs, midshipmans' diaries, a ship's commission, typescripts of two books, unrelated miscellaneous documents, as well as many published works on maritime history.
