Galenus, Cladius
Novi et integri commentarii Galeni libros De temperamentis
Lugduni : apud Godefridum & Marcellum Beringoso fraters, 1547.
This is one of the earliest printed editions of Galen. Nine editions of his works were published by a single printer in Venice between 1541 and 1625. Three hundred years later Galen was still being retranslated (in 20 volumes). By 1551 the need for an index stimulated the production of a concordance, and the handwritten annotations in many surviving copies shows the detailed way they were read and interpreted as the overriding authority in medical science.
