This treatise on gout was popular in its time and was even reprinted for the American market. However, it dated rapidly in the face of the changing concepts of disease developed during the early years of the nineteenth century and even in 1838 Scudamore was protesting at his exclusion from Pettigrew's Medical Portrait Gallery. The book and author are now almost forgotten.
