Blaise Pascal (1623-62) is best known as a philosopher and mathematician. However Pascal's contribution to natural philosophy should not be underestimated. This posthumous work which built on Robert Boyle's pioneering Spring of the Air (1660), was a major contribution to the study of liquids and air pressure. It includes an extended extract from Boyle's work. His Pensées also appears in this exhibition.
