KANT, Immanuel (1724 - 1804)
Kritik der Reinen Vernunft
Frankfurt und Leipzig: 1794.
This is an early edition of Kant's great First Critique, the Critique of Pure Reason, which appeared originally in 1781. It presented "transcendental idealism" as an attempted reconciliation of Leibnizian Rationalist and Humean Empiricist epistemologies. This immensely influential work, together with Kant's other writings, gave birth to German 19th century Idealism, and all its progeny.
