KANT, IMMANUEL (1724 - 1804)
Die Reiligion innerhalb der Grenzen der blosen Vernunft
Konigsberg: Friedrich Ricolovius, 1794.
The first edition of this work. Kant retained much of the piety of his upbringing, but this is Enlightenment theology. It stresses the being of God and the holiness of the moral law, but dispenses with much Christian doctrine and familiar narrative. It is an application of the restrained, anti-metaphysical aspects of the Critique of Pure Reason.
