6.1 What is Quick Search?

Quick Search, sometimes called 'Summon', is a search engine which enables you to do one search to locate both books and audiovisual material held in the library, as well as the full-text of electronic journals and newspaper articles. The simple Google-like interface allows you to quickly search, discover and access reliable and appropriate library content.

While a great starting point, Quick Search does not contain many of the Library's print journals, subject specific databases, primary sources and older books. You will need to learn how to identify other sources and to use more advanced search techniques to become a truly sophisticated researcher! To do this, make sure to complete modules seven and eight: Advanced Search: Books and Advanced Search: Journal Articles.
