Australian Resources

ABARE (Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics)
ABARE is an Australian government economic research agency that provides up to date public policy analysis and commodity forecasts for Australian industry. The site includes information on agricultural surveys, WTO agricultural trade reform, commodity analysis and forecasting, and climate change. ABARE provides free online access to most of its publications - you will be required to register to access the full text online.

Economics Research Reports
All of the economic research reports, published by the New South Wales Department of Primary Industries, are freely available from this web page.

Centre for International Economic Studies (CIES)
Published by the University of Adelaide, the site provides full text access to all CIES discussion and seminar papers.

Austrade Online
Austrade online is the web site of the Australian Trade Commission - the federal government's export and investment facilitation agency. Australian and international businesses can receive advice and relevant information such as detailed market intelligence including the competition, the prospects, cultural considerations, distribution systems and government regulations. The web site also provides in-market services, information on international trade fairs and a link to AusAID.

CSIRO
The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation is a statutory agency of the Government of Australia. This site has a specific section on agribusiness which is subdivided into areas such as field crops; food processing; forestry, wood and paper industries; horticulture; meat, dairy and aquaculture as well as textiles, clothing and footwear. There is also a section on setting up business ventures with the CSIRO which is subdivided into various specialties.

The Sydney Future's Exchange (SFE)
SFE provides exchange-traded and over-the-counter (OTC) financial services to institutions throughout the Asia-Pacific region and globally. Services include trading products for investment and risk management, dissemination of real-time and historical trading market data and provision of centralised clearing, settlement and depository services for both derivative and cash products. The site includes commodities specifications and reports for wool and grain. There is a section on agricultural commodities on the futures exchange as well as extensive market data tables and charts. Media releases, bulletins and links to some full-text online publications are also provided.

Wool.net.au
This web site provides a central reference for wool related topics on the Internet. There are links to organizations providing the most up to date market reports and market information services such as statistical reports and consultant services. It provides weekly data on fleece and pieces and southern, northern and western regional quotes. Information is also provided which details the steps to selling wool at auction and AWTA Core Test Statistics.


International resources

AgEcon Search: Research in Agricultural and Applied Economics
AgEcon Search is a web site developed and maintained at the University of Minnesota by the Magrath Library and the Department of Applied Economics. It collects, indexes, and electronically distributes full text copies of scholarly research in agricultural economics including agribusiness, food supply, natural resource economics, environmental economics and agricultural trade. The database can be searched by any words used in the citations and abstracts.

Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)
"The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations was founded in 1945 with a mandate to raise levels of nutrition and standards of living, to improve agricultural productivity, and to better the condition of rural populations. Today, FAO is one of the largest specialized agencies in the United Nations system and the lead agency for agriculture, forestry, fisheries and rural development. An intergovernmental organization, FAO has 183 member countries plus one member organization, the European Community."

Country Commercial Guides Index
This is an archive site for the State Department of the USA. CCG's are annual publications prepared by U.S. embassies with the assistance of several U.S. government agencies. Reports are available from 1996 onwards.

ERS (Economic Research Service)
This Website is maintained by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The site provides a briefing room on ERS research as well as key research topics each with a collection of data, publications, products and services. Research emphasis covers competitive agricultural systems, safe food supply, a healthy well-nourished population and harmony between agriculture and the environment. Access is also provided to rice, cotton and wool industry outlook reports from 1995 onwards. Many ERS publications are freely available from the web site. Some of the reports provided are in .pdf format so the Adobe Acrobat Reader is required.

USDA Economics, Statistics and Market Information System
This is a site developed by the Mann Library at Cornell University in the USA. It "contains nearly 300 reports and datasets from the economics agencies of the U.S. Department of Agriculture". A search facility is available to users or they may browse topics such as farm sector economics, international agriculture, land water and conservation, livestock, dairy and poultry, rural affairs and trade issues.
