Know & Enjoy Tropical Fruit
Excerpts from a book entitled "Know and enjoy tropical fruit : tropical fruit and nuts: a cornucopia" by James J Darley. The book is available from Badham Library and Orange Library. The site contains extensive information on tropical fruits including bananas and plantains, casimoroas, persimmon, mabolas, durians, mangosteens, jackfruits, breadfruits, lychees, rambutans and longans. The site also includes many pictures and recipes.

Sydney Postharvest Laboratory
Maintained by CSIRO's Sydney Postharvest Laboratory, the site features over 40 vegetable crops with information on storage, handling, market information, a database of names (botanical and alternate), as well as postharvest links. The postharvest information sheets are in .pdf format so the Adobe Acrobat Reader is required.

Fruit facts on-line
This site is published by California Rare Fruit Growers Incorporated. The 'facts' are a series of online publications on individual fruits including: avocado, banana, currants, feijoa, fig, gooseberry, guava, jackfruit, kiwifruit, lychee, macadamia, mango, olive, papaya, passion fruit, pawpaw, pineapple, tamarind and many other exotic fruits. Botanical information, description, culture notes, cultivars and further reading is also included.

Growing fruit & nuts
Published by the Natural Food Hub in New Zealand. This private site is a directory of information for growing fruit & nuts. Directories of food suppliers and edible plants and seeds are also included.

Index of Fruit Insect Pest Photographs
This site, by Alan Biggs of West Virginia University, USA, uses photographs and text that have been reprinted with permission from the Mid-Atlantic Orchard Monitoring Guide, published by NRAES. There are links to images of apple, pear, peach, nectarine and cherry pests and their natural enemies.

International Network for the Improvement of Banana and Plantain (INIBAP)
This site is maintained by the International Plant Genetic Resources Institute (IPGRI) in Montpellier, France. The site contains two searchable databases. MUSALIT, which offers a variety of search options, contains more than 5300 abstracts about banana and plantain. Subjects covered include agronomy, breeding, crop protection, micropropagation, diseases and pests, fruit physiology and postharvest. BRIS: the Banana Research Information System provides data on 832 researchers working on bananas and plantains. It can be searched by names of researchers or institutes and by key areas of interest. Information is provided about the MGIS database, which contains 4127 records of accessions held in 13 collections and is available on CDROM from INIBAP. An online thesaurus of 3753 terms, which are classified under 21 subject headings, is also included. As well as links to FAO production, export and consumption statistics and access to full-text online publications. As the publications are in .pdf format the Adobe Acrobat Reader is required.

New York State Integrated Pest Management Program: Resources for Fruit
These pages are maintained by the New York State IPM Program, part of Cornell Cooperative Extension with design and maintenance by Karen English-Loeb. The site includes a collection of factsheets on pests and diseases of grapes and tree fruits. Information is provided on pest symptoms, life cycles and control. As the factsheets are in .pdf format the Adobe Acrobat Reader is required. The site also contains general information about integrated pest management (IPM), 1992 crop profiles for apples, strawberries and grapes and links to related websites.

Scaffolds fruit journal
A journal published weekly by Cornell University and specialising in pest management and crop development. It provides access to articles and events from 1995 onwards. A search facility and links to other websites is provided.
