ECAI: Electronic Cultural Atlas Initiative
The project is a collaborative effort, based at the University of California Berkeley, combining global mapping, imagery, and texts.

Getty Vocabulary Program
The Getty Vocabulary Program builds, maintains, and disseminates vocabularies. Produced by the Getty are the AAT (Art and Architecture Thesaurus), the ULAN (Union List of Artist Names), and the TGN (Getty Thesaurus of Geographic Names). These thesauri are particularly useful for finding variations of names, and contain references to sources where more information can be found.

IAM: Interactive Ancient Mediterranean
An online atlas of the ancient Mediterranean world. Includes maps, place names and variations, pronounciations and search facilities. This site is no longer being updated; the Ancient World Mapping Center has taken over its function.
