Keeping up to date with Biology resources
These are some ways to maintain awareness of newly published material.
Scan the new books display
to discover new items acquired by Badham Library.
Scan current journal issues. Badham Library
has current journal display shelves. Many journals are online.
Search electronic journal databases.
Some databases allow you to save
your search strategy, which you can then re-run against the database
on a regular basis. Other databases have an auto
alert facility, enabling you to save a search strategy which
will be used to search the database automatically for new content whenever
the database is updated. Any new records which match your strategy
are then sent to you via email.
Register with Web of Knowledge or individual publishers to receive email alerts of new table of contents for
selected journals and information about new books on your subject.
Subscribe to
e-mail discussion lists and news services for your subject area.
Visit
web sites of relevant organisations, institutions and societies for news
and conference information. For more information, see the
Organisations and Associations link on the Library
Quick Reference Guide . Many subject
portals also list relevant organizations, institutions and
societies.
