Education Databases

This class provides an overview to both the content and search features of a number of key Educational databases. Databases covered include Eric, Australian Education Index and Proquest Databases.

Web of Science: Using Citation Indexes

Do you need to know who has cited a key article in your research area? The Web of Science class will enable you to learn techniques for effectively using The Social Sciences and the Arts & Humanities citation indexes. The classes cover cited reference searching, topic searching and advanced search features of these databases.

Class objectives:

  • Conduct general searches and cited reference searches
  • Refine your searches to improve your results
  • Export your search results in a variety of formats
  • Set up an email autoalert in an area of your interest

Research your Education essay

Class objectives:

  • Learn how to develop a research strategy for one of your assignment topics
  • Learn how to search for your assignment topic more effectively, using the library catalogue, encyclopedias, databases and web resources

Please note: this course is designed for people who already have some familiarity with searching online resources, and who would like to build on their existing knowledge.

Please bring an assignment question or research topic to work on during the session.
