Stock Prices (Quotes)

• Factiva - select Companies/Markets on the green bar at the top of the screen. Then to get share price data click on Quotes and enter the stock symbol in followed by .AX, eg ANZ.AX or look up the name to get a list of stocks to select from, then indicate your date range, including daily or weekly data, the format and click on Get Quote.
  
  Factiva provides an interactive chart of the shareprice data, click on the Charting tab and enter your symbol as before, specify the date range and click on Draw Chart. This will give you an interactive chart of the share price data. As you move your mouse across the chart you will see for each high and low, the date and the close price. If you click on this point you will be taken into the news search part of Factiva where you will be given the news associated with that high or low for the date given and approximately one week beforehand and one week after. - see Companies/Markets tab option. Select Charting. (provides data back 5 years)

  
  

• The Australia Stock Exchange[www.asx.com.au] provides company and trading information for all listed companies, including share price, recent announcements, dividends, price history chart and other information.If you have only an ASX code and do not know the full name of your company, this can be obtained from the - ASX under Company research, then Company information.
  

• Newspapers eg Sydney Morning Herald [http://markets.smh.com.au/apps/qt/index.ac] or Australian Financial Review [http://afr.com]
  

• Fin Analysis (AspectHuntley) provides a 12-year history of detailed financial information for all companies listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. Detailed financial information is also available for delisted companies. Comprehensive financial breakdowns are available in Excel format and original company reports are available in PDF.
  - select your company under Company Profiles, select Charts.
  Time period covered 2000+ daily & 1988+ monthly.
  

• Historical Stock Data - (U.S.A 1849-2003) select ProQuest Historical Newspapers Collections from the Library's database list. This contains the full text and full image articles from major American newspapers: Chicago Tribune (April 23, 1849-Dec. 31, 1985); The New York Times (Sept 18, 1851-Dec. 31, 2002); The Wall Street Journal (July 8, 1889-Dec. 31, 1988). Note: Historical databases cannot be searched in combination with non-historical databases. (search term - stock quotes)
