The University of Sydney Library provides access to a large number of databases for University staff and students. A full list can be found at Databases and Electronic Resources. The following relate to locating economic and related statistics.

The databases listed below are numerical databases to locate sequences of statistical data. If you need to locate references to articles that analyse statistics or statistical trends please look at the database listing in the Economics Subject Guide. Use the World Development Indicators to locate time series data from the World Bank, for over 205 countries and regions. There are over 550 series, covering the time period 1960 - 1998.There are 5 major categories of series. They are:

IFS - International Financial Statistics
This time series database, from the International Monetary Fund, provides a wide range of financial and economic indicators. Data covered includes - exchange rates, IMF accounts, interest rates, government finance, consumer prices, reserves, national accounts and balance of payments, some export and import data.

Source OECD covers a number of databases including the following:

OECD Main Economic Indicators

Historical economic time series for OECD member countries. Statistics provides in the following subject areas - national accounts, production, business & consumer opinion, manufacturing, construction, domestic trade, labour, wages, prices, domestic finance, interest rates, share prices, foreign finance, foreign trade and balance of payments. The time period covered is 1960 to date.

OECD Social Expenditure Data

This database provides statistics on expenditure on social programs for OECD member countries. Subjects include - old age benefits and services, disability benefits and services, occupational injury, family benefits and services, active labour market programs, unemployment, housing, health and other contingencies. Time period covered is 1980 to date.
