The Alliance for Innovative Manufacturing at Standford University (AIM) has developed an introductory website for kids and adults showing how various items are made. It covers over 40 different products and manufacturing processes, and includes almost 4 hours of manufacturing video. It is targeted towards non-engineers and engineers alike.

Materials Science

Materials Science Resources on the Web is a useful guide, published by the journal Issues in Science & Technology Librarianship. It features an introduction to materials science and links to core resources in the areas of methods, ceramics, composites, metals, microsystems & semiconductors, polymers, properties data, strength of materials, surfaces & corrosion, educational demonstrations & exhibits.

SubsTech is a free and open knowledge source on materials engineering. It contains a range of illustrated articles on metals, ceramics, polymers, composites and fluids including their properties, applications and technologies for their manufacture.

Robotics & Mechatronics Professional Network is the IEE portal to its global industrial and academic community. Access to latest news and opinion, a library of articles, reports, surveys and interviews, online discussions, virtual meetings, and a comprehensive directory of specialised links.

Interaction Lab at University of Southern California conducts research on behavior-based control systems. This website describes the various projects and provides links to reports and articles on topics such as multi-robot control, and human-robot interaction and learning.

Mechatronics Linz Maintained at the University Linz (Austria) with links to mechatronics information worldwide.

Robotics Trends: Current Uses for Robotics Technology is a source of news, information and analysis on the burgeoning personal, service and mobile robotics market, including the first robot scientist, Japan's rescue robot, and a baby simulator designed to help students of nursing train for the real thing.
