How to research effectively
Finding articles on your topic
If you decide that you require journal articles for your research you will need to search one of the electronic databases that the Library subscribes to. There are no references to journal articles on the Library's catalogue.
There is no one databse that covers everything. You will need to use several databases and they will not look and function exactly the same. Here your planning and your search strategy will be invaluable.
Databases usually provide a citation and/or abstract of an article. An abstract is a brief summary. Sometimes the database will give you access to the full text. If it does not you will need to go to the catalogue to check where the Library holds the journal and then go to the location. If it is a recent article the journal will be located in the "New Serials" section on level 3, Fisher Library.
