Art History and Theory - Finding books on your topic

To find a book using the Library's online catalogue:

  • Use a title search if you know the title of the book you are looking for.
Tip: If the title begins with A, An, or The, omit these articles.
  • Use an author search if you know the name of the author of the book.
Tip: Check that you have the correct spelling of the author's name.
  • Use a subject search to find a book about an artist.
Tip: Type the surname first, eg: Picasso Pablo
  • Use keywords from the title, author or contents, if you don't know the exact title or subject.
In a keyword search, the words do not need to be in the correct order.
A keyword search may find your search terms in:
    • title
    • author's name
    • list of chapter headings
    • , or
    • subject descriptors
