Graduate Medical Education
The purpose of this page is to provide an introduction to the steps typically involved in entering graduate medical education in the U.S. The Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), through its program of certification, assesses whether graduates of foreign medical schools are ready to enter residency or fellowship programs in the U.S. that are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
