Searching Business Source Premier

Open database

Business Source Premier indexes and abstracts 3350 journals in nearly every area of business including management, marketing, economics, finance, accounting and international business. It provides full text of more than 2800 scholarly publications including the world's top management and marketing journals, many back to 1922 or the first issue. Go to Databases for Project Management, find Business Source Premier in the list and click on the name to connect.

Search

Enter your search words into the text boxes. As in the example below you can use the drop boxes to select AND, OR, NOT. You can also specify the fields you wish to search in (eg. AB Abstract or Author-Supplied Abstract), or accept the default fields. For more information, go back to the previous part of this tutorial, or use Search Tips. You can Limit your results or expand your search in various ways, using the features in the Refine Search box, for example Full Text, Scholarly Journals, Date.

     

Edit, refine, focus your search

Take a brief look at the results. Do the titles look relevant? Are there too many, not enough or none (see top of screen for the number of results)? You may need to edit your search. Click Refine Search. Check your spelling. If you did not find enough, you could truncate your search term/s, for instance australia* will find more results than australia. If you found too many, consider adding extra search terms, combining with and.

Results and Access to Full Text

To see more details about an article, click on the title. The PDF or HTML link takes you to the full text of the article.
     

Electronic access to full text is not available for all articles. Click on Check University of Sydney Library catalogue to see if an article is available in print or other format. More about Check the Library Catalogue.

Save, print or email results

Besides obtaining the full text of your article, you should also save, print or email the citation details. This will be needed for the bibliography in your assignment, and will save you time later. For each article, click E-mail (or Print or Save) and follow the prompts. The E-mail feature in this database will also mail you the PDF file as an attachment.
